A QS partner that grows with your business
We become part of your team.
Train someone up and one day they leave — we won't. We stay in your corner, getting sharper on your work with every project, so you can price and build with confidence.
Hiring your own QS can be expensive, and once they learn your systems, suppliers, rates and pricing strategy, there is always a risk they move on. With QS Services, your estimating support stays with your business.
The more we price for you, the better we understand your company, your rates, your suppliers, your preferred subcontractors, your margins and the type of work you want to win. Over time, we become sharper, faster and more aligned with how you price.
Our goal is simple: help you win better work, protect your margin and free up your time.
1. Take-off only
Send us your plans. We measure the works and prepare a clear take-off or schedule for you to send out to your own suppliers and subcontractors.
Best for contractors who already have supplier relationships but need accurate quantities quickly.
2. Take-off + you source prices
We complete the take-off and package it clearly for you to send to your suppliers. You send the prices back to us and we pull the numbers together.
Best for contractors who want to manage supplier relationships with QS support in the background.
3. Full pricing support
We review the scope, identify what pricing is required and, where agreed, send enquiries on your behalf. We gather prices, review the numbers and prepare a full quote summary.
Best for busy builders and subcontractors who want more time back.
4. Ongoing QS support
For contractors with regular pricing, claim or variation needs, we can provide ongoing support as your external QS team.
Best for growing contractors who need reliable QS support but are not ready to hire full-time.

Home›Who we help›Engineers & councils
Engineers & councilsSOQs & BOQs that actually align.
Clearer documents. Better pricing. Smoother projects.
Too many SOQs and BOQs do not align with the drawings, specifications or real construction requirements. That creates confusion during tender, inconsistent pricing, unnecessary RFIs, variation risk and cost disputes later in the project.
QS Services NZ Ltd helps engineers, councils and project teams prepare clearer, more practical SOQs and BOQs before they are issued to market.
Our promise to you
- Better aligned documents
- Fewer queries and variations
- More accurate tender pricing
- Reduced risk and assumptions
- Stronger project outcomes
Better tender documents
Why quality SOQs & BOQs matter.
A good SOQ should not just be a list of items. It should reflect the drawings, construction sequence, site conditions, measurement logic, specification requirements and the way contractors will actually price the work.
When the SOQ or BOQ is unclear, contractors price the risk. That can lead to higher prices, inconsistent submissions, excessive RFIs and variation claims after award.
- Contractors can price accurately
- Tender returns are easier to compare
- Scope gaps are reduced
- Project risk is identified earlier
- Councils and consultants receive cleaner pricing
- Clients make better procurement decisions

Our story
Built on experience. Driven by purpose.
QS Services was founded by Josh and Lucy with a simple idea: make quantity surveying more practical, more accessible and easier for clients to understand.
Travelling New Zealand in their off-road caravan has given us a close connection to regional contractors, local projects and the real challenges people face on the ground.
That relaxed, hands-on approach shapes how we work today — professional, practical and easy to deal with.
We enjoy what we do: simplifying the numbers, guiding clients through the process and helping projects move forward with confidence.

Calculator disclaimer
The calculators and tools on this website are designed to help users understand basic quantities, rough material volumes and general pricing concepts. They are guides only and are not formal quantity surveying advice.
Indicative outputs only
Calculator outputs are based on the information entered by the user and simplified formulas. Results may be incomplete, inaccurate or unsuitable for your project if inputs are wrong, assumptions are unsuitable, or site-specific issues apply.
Exclusions
Unless expressly stated, calculator outputs do not include all costs required to complete construction work. Depending on the tool and project, additional allowances may be needed for:
- Labour, plant, supervision, temporary works and site establishment.
- Excavation, disposal, cartage, access constraints, dewatering and ground conditions.
- Concrete pump, boxing, reinforcing, placing, finishing, saw cutting and curing.
- Pipe supply, fittings, testing, compaction testing, reinstatement and traffic management.
- Waste, laps, overlaps, breakages, supplier minimums and delivery costs.
- Design, engineering, consent, inspections and compliance requirements.
- Margins, overheads, GST, contingency and project-specific risks.
No quote or contract price
Calculator results are not a quote, offer, contract price, estimate for reliance, professional report or construction cost certification. They should not be used for tender submission, bank funding, contract agreement or construction decisions without project-specific review.
User responsibility
You are responsible for checking dimensions, quantities, units, rates, assumptions and outputs. If in doubt, seek professional advice before relying on any calculation.
Bank QS report disclaimer
Based on information provided
Any QS report, cost review, progress review, drawdown support or cost-to-complete assessment will be based on the information provided to QS Services NZ Ltd and the scope agreed for the report.
No guarantee of lender acceptance or funding
QS Services NZ Ltd does not guarantee that any bank, lender, insurer, funder or third party will accept a report, approve funding, release drawdowns, approve claims or rely on the information provided. Each lender may have its own requirements, formats, conditions and review process.
Not a valuation or building inspection
Unless expressly agreed in writing, a QS report is not a property valuation, market valuation, structural inspection, building survey, engineering certification, code compliance certificate, defects report, insurance valuation or guarantee of workmanship.
Site visits and progress assessments
Where site visits are included, progress assessments are typically visual and limited to the scope agreed. Hidden work, defective work, design compliance, structural adequacy, workmanship quality and code compliance may not be assessed unless specifically included and within our expertise.
